Lawyers of Brownstein Thomas discussing Legal aspects of Overtime Pay, Wage, etc.

The San Francisco labor law attorneys at Brownstein Thomas, LLP know that work disputes are becoming more common with the hard times this country has been facing. While it may be necessary for companies to cut back on their spending it is important to ensure that employment laws are still being followed. Our wage and hour attorneys are proficient in wage and hour laws including overtime pay, minimum wage, family and medical leave, and special employment. We possess the knowledge, reputation and aggressive attitude that California employees need to recover lost wages that are rightfully theirs.

Wage and Hour Dispute Litigation

Employees work hard in order to earn their paychecks. One of the most disappointing feelings at the end of the week is receiving less money that you actually earned. Common work disputes that employees face include:

  • Overtime
  • Minimum wage
  • Denial of meal and rest periods

If you know you are not receiving the compensation that you should be getting it is important to get in touch with work compensation lawyers who are familiar with cases that are similar to your own. At Brownstein Thomas, LLP in San Francisco, you will find that each employment attorney is familiar with up-to-date California employment codes and laws. We pride ourselves on providing professional and aggressive representation for employees regardless of how big the company they work for is.

Overtime

For non-exempt employees, any work in excess of eight hours in one workday and any work in excess of 40 hours in one work week and the first eight hours worked on the seventh day of work in any one work week shall be at the rate of one and one-half times the regular rate of pay.

Any work in excess of twelve hours in one day and any work in excess of eight hours on any seventh day of a work week shall be paid no less than twice the regular rate of pay (California Labor Code Section 310).

If you are not receiving overtime pay for the extra hours you are putting into your week then an overtime lawsuit is necessary. Our overtime law attorneys have experience in representing employees who are looking for overtime for themselves as well as groups of employees who are interested in class action overtime lawsuits.

Minimum Wage

The minimum wage in California is $8.00 per hour. The San Francisco minimum wage is currently $9.79 per hour. If you are not receiving minimum wage for your work, contact one of our wage and hour lawyers today so that you can start earning the money that is due to you.
